I can hardly contain my excitement, right now! I have been planning several new service offerings for quite some time and I am so excited to introduce one of those offerings to you, right now!
As a mom there are so many things that I looked forward to when I learned that we would be welcoming Emery into our family. I knew I had to have maternity & newborn photos! But truthfully, I missed some opportunities along the way.
How, you may ask, since I’m a photographer? 2 things that I definitely regret not having hired a photographer for are:
It was such a pleasure to provide these beautiful Fresh 48 images to this amazing family!
In the very moment that my labor and delivery nurse handed my perfectly swaddled daughter to me, and I looked up to my husband, who was adoringly perched over my right shoulder, I knew that I wanted that exact moment captured on camera and cemented forever. Alas, just like the sensations felt throughout the labor I’d just endured, the moment passed. Now, just a memory for he and I, alone. One that can’t be shared with our daughter in a photograph years from now.
Unbeknownst to me, I’d be asked about birth photography nearly a year later at a baby expo that I attended. In that moment, I knew that I would love to give a woman, exactly what I didn’t have! Documentary photography of the most powerful and joyful moments where lives merge in ameeting of destiny! The day that changed her life forever!
Often, the details of a birth story go untold because a mother only has one perspective: her own. She’s left without the knowledge of who did what in getting her to the finish line. She may miss certain facial expressions of her support system and desire to process her birth story, in all of it’s truth. That’s the beauty of documentary photography. The truth, and it’s beautiful. We are grateful for truth.
I’m open to admitting that Emery’s first photos at the hospital left much to be desired. They didn’t capture the true essence of what her arrival meant to my family. It didn’t speak to the strength of our instantaneous bond or the joy on every visitor’s face when they met her for the first time. I wasn’t fulfilled in that regard.
I want my Fresh 48 ( photos of baby & family that are taken at the hospital) clients to feel as though I captured the atmosphere that welcomed their baby and the joy of their first days together. A mother should have photos that depict the budding bond between baby and older siblings. Photos that depict the magnetic post birth energy between a mother and father, are indescribable. A grandparent’s gaze and the warmth of their smile as they hold a tiny life in their arms. (Can you tell I’m swooning?)
There’s only one word to describe it all: Priceless!
I’m so happy to provide these services to the mommies that I serve! If you’re a mom to be, I would love to provide them to you, as well! Just click here or tap the button below to chat with me about any of my services.
