Jett The Great – A Cake Smash Story | Fairhope Cake Smash Photography

 

There are just some people who stick with you. You meet them once and their warmth, energy, smile or positive words of affirmation just stick with you! That’s Amanda in a nut shell! Amanda and her husband are an amazing Real Estate Couple serving Baldwin County families in a thriving market, and when she and I met, I was looking for an office space to put down roots. ( I can’t say I’ve found “The One” but that’s another story.) 

 

After chatting about my vision and viewing my portfolio, she told me that her youngest son was turning a year old soon. She told me that she would definitely be booking his cake smash with me, and that’s what we did! If you ever meet Amanda, and you definitely should, you get the impression of genuine kindness, a bubbly personality and a friendly disposition.

We decided to have an outdoor portrait session in Fairhope. It was raining at my favorite Daphne, AL location for portraits and I’m so happy that it did, because we wouldn’t have these images! Amanda requested a Chocolate smash cake for Jett. We made a quick decision to let him be nude and that when we captured one of my favorite images of the year thus far!

Because of his age and having his sweet mama on location, the session somewhat became an ode to motherhood. The above image truly embodies motherhood, in my opinion. The way that she gazes at him while her hair blows in the wind represents how enamored we are with each of our children, individually. Although, he’s nude and a mishap could occur, she’s embraced him with reckless abandon! He holds on to her, for security, yet confidently looks out into the world.  I love this image so much, I ordered it in a 20×30 canvas for my future office. For now, I take it for clients to see as a product sample, so that they can see the quality of my solid faced canvases! These canvases will NOT sag!

A milestone session, namely, a cake smash session can be just as much about the evolution of the mother, as it is about the child. They’ve both grown and changed in that 12 month time span. So, what do you think of this cake smash session?
